Winnipeg Free Press Review - The Secret of the Stone House
Reviewed by: Helen Norrie
Another in the From Many Peoples series that focuses on immigrants to Saskatchewan, Silverthorne's book is a time travel story about the Scottish settlers who first cleared the land and built a stone house on the prairie.
A fascinating part is the detail about building the house, with pulleys, ramps and much manual labour. Another highlight is when Emily is able to warn her ancestors about a devastating forest fire.
A disadvantage is that this is a sequel to an earlier book about Emily Bradford and her family, and the author spends the first chapter recounting what has already happened. Recommended for fans of historical fiction who like time travel adventure.
